“Do your best until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.

Maya Angelou

Doing your best doesn’t necessarily mean that the results are perfection.

Have you ever worked really hard to accomplish something only to look back later and realize that you made a ton of mistakes? As a recovering perfectionist, this infuriates me.

If it has my fingerprints on it, I want it to be as perfect as it can be. I can’t even tell you how many times, I have gone over and over my blog posts tweaking, adding, removing, updating trying to get them all exactly the way I want them, and there are still changes that can be made!

Life’s not perfect…

Unfortunately, this is not how life works. Once a mistake is made, there is little that can be done to go back and right the wrong.

No matter how badly you long for a “do over,” the only thing you can do is to accept the consequences for your actions and move forward doing the best you can from that point on.

…but crochet can be!

The good news is that even though life cannot be perfect, crochet can be! Perhaps this is why I love crochet so much. No matter how bad the mistake is, I can always frog it and redo it!

Many times, I get so much satisfaction out of frogging a misshapen project and recreating something beautiful and PERFECT in its stead. It is then that I truly feel as if I am putting…

…my best hook forward!
